Day 1: Friday, April
9th, 2010: US departure
Meet Drew Mariani from Relevant Radio and Juan Landa (Mater Dei Tour
Director) Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. Depart the U.S. for Paris, France,
(Airfare available from other cities. Please call for more information)
and enjoy non-stop service with dinner, drinks and video entertainment
onboard. (M)
Day 2: Saturday, April 10th: Arrive in Paris: After immigration and
customs formalities, you’ll be escorted to a private motor-coach. Meet our
French tour guide as you are chauffeured to the Chapel of the Miraculous
Medal (thanksgiving Mass celebrated here – for a safe arrival), where Our
Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure (her incorrupt body is in the same
chapel). After Mass, visit St. Vincent De Paul’s remains at a chapel
nearby. After Mass enjoy a sightseeing tour of Paris: Eiffel Tower, built
for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 commemorating the
centenary of the French Revolution. Drive through the Champs-Elysées and
see the Arc du Triomphe, built between 1806 and 1808 by Napoleon I
following the model of the Arc of Constantine in Rome. Cross the Seine
River on the famous Alexander Bridge, pass by the Louvre Museum and see
the Place de la Concorde (where King Louis and Marie Antoinette were
executed by guillotine). End today’s tour with a visit to Les Invalides,
where you will have the opportunity to see Napoleon’s tomb. Enjoy a
welcome dinner and stay in Paris for two nights. (M, D)
Day 3: Sunday, April 11th (Feast of the Divine Mercy): Paris Divine Mercy
Mass* at Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral (subject to reconfirmation). A
guided visit to the Cathedral de Notre-Dame follows. The Cathedral was
originally a Gallo-Roman temple to Jupiter. When Christianity was legal,
it became a Christian basilica, and later it developed into a Romanesque
church. Construction of Notre-Dame de Paris began in 1163 during the reign
of Louis VII. Pope Alexander III laid the foundation stone. Afterwards,
continue to Montmartre (Hill of Martyrs) to visit the Sacre Couer (Sacred
Heart Basilica). Rosary will be prayed here. This afternoon is at leisure
in Paris. *All Masses have been requested and are subject to
reconfirmation by local ecclesiastical authorities. (B)
Day 4: Monday, April 12th: Nevers & Paray Le Monial. Our memorable visit
to Paris ends as we embark on a journey through several beautiful regions
of France on the way to a convent in Nevers, where St. Bernadette spent
the last years of her life. Visit the museum and enjoy the gardens that
St. Bernadette used to frequent. Holy Mass* is celebrated in the chapel
where her incorrupt body lies in a glass coffin. Then continue to Paray Le
Monial, home to the devotion of the Sacred Heart. Jesus appeared to St.
Margaret Mary Alacoque here, choosing her to be the instrument to lead the
world back to Christ. The Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus will
be prayed here. Enjoy a dinner with your fellow pilgrims and an overnight
in the Lyons area. *All Masses have been requested and are subject to
reconfirmation by local ecclesiastical authorities. (B, D)

Day 5: Tuesday, April 13: Ars and Laus. After breakfast depart for Ars
where St Jean-Marie Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests, spent a
great part of his holy life giving powerful sermons and spending up to 17
hours a day hearing confessions (sleeping only two hours a night). People
continuously flowed into Ars from every part of France seeking his
spiritual guidance and healing. The charity and love for people of this
simple curate of Ars became famous all over the Christian world. He died
in 1895 and his incorrupt body lies in repose, along with many relics from
this saint, who was canonized in 1925. Mass* celebrated here. Continue
towards the French Alps region to a little town known as Saint-Étienne-le-Laus.
Enjoy dinner with your fellow pilgrims. Stay in Laus area for two nights .
*All Masses have been requested and are subject to reconfirmation by local
ecclesiastical authorities. (B, D).
Day 6: Wednesday, April 14: Day of Recollection in Laus. Today, enjoy a
Day of recollection and retreat at the Marian Shrine in Laus. Mass,
Rosary, Chaplet, Meditations (Divine Mercy, Priesthood and Mary) as well
as Sacramental Confession will be available at this Shrine in the French
Alps area. Meet for dinner with your fellow pilgrims. *All Masses have
been requested and are subject to reconfirmation by local ecclesiastical
authorities. (B, D)
Day 7: Thursday, April 15: La Salette and Nice. Say au revoir to Laus and
travel to La Salette located in a high alpine pasture in the French Alps.
La Salette is the site where the Virgin Mary appeared in 1846 to two
shepherds, Melanie Matthew and Maximin Gird. Our Lady appeared to these
shepherds crying and lamenting over the lack of Sunday observance and the
profaning of her Son's Holy Name. A spring marks the spot where the Virgin
appeared and where millions of pilgrims come to in order to drink the
fresh spring water and to pray. The stunning mountain scenery and lush
mountain trails make La Salette one of the most spectacular pilgrimage
sites in France, with a beautiful Basilica built to honor the Virgin Mary.
In 1996 La Salette celebrated the 150th anniversary of Our Lady's first
appearance. Mass* is celebrated here. Continue towards the Mediterranean
coast to the city of Nice. Upon arrival enjoy guided walking tour of the
Old Town and take a leisurely drive along the famous Baie des Anglais,
followed by a stroll along the promenade to take in some of the historic
sites, such as the Hotel Negresco. Dinner and overnight in Nice. *All
Masses have been requested and are subject to reconfirmation by local
ecclesiastical authorities. (B, D)
Day 8: Friday, April 16: Monaco & Turin. After breakfast depart for Turin,
Italy. On the way, stop in Monte Carlo, Monaco to enjoy a panoramic tour
of the city. Mass at a local Church. Later, cross the border into Italy
and continue on the way to Turin. Welcome to Italy dinner tonight. Stay in
Turin for two nights. (B, D)
Day 9: Saturday, April 17th: Shroud of Turin. This morning, after
breakfast, enjoy a tour of Turin including Piazza San Carlo, Po Street,
and Mount of the Capuchin Monks. Then we proceed to the special viewing of
the Holy Shroud of Turin in the St. John the Baptist Cathedral. Reputed to
be the burial cloth of Christ! This spectacular shroud is made of linen
cloth, measuring 14 feet, 3 inches long by 3 feet, 7 inches wide, bearing
the distinct image of a crucified Man. The last time the shroud was
displayed publicly was during the Jubilee Year of 2000. The next scheduled
display was for the jubilee in 2025. The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI,
has given a special authorization for the Shroud to be displayed for a
brief period in 2010 (April to May). This is perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to view the Shroud. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Mass at a local church. Dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 10: Sunday, April 18th: Padua. After breakfast depart for Padua. If
time allows, enjoy a brief, narrated panoramic tour of Milan including
views of the Duomo, which is the largest Gothic cathedral in Italy and
possibly a visit to the Church of Santa Maria Delle Grazie, the 15th
century Renaissance church, to see the Leonardo DaVinci’s masterpiece: the
Last Supper. Continue onto Padua (Prayer program and inspirational movies
on-board). Mass* is celebrated at the Basilica of St. Anthony upon arrival
in Padova. Group dinner in Padova. Two night stay in Padova. *All Masses
have been requested and are subject to reconfirmation by local
ecclesiastical authorities. (B, D)
Day 11: Monday, April 19th: Venice. Venice is one of the few cities in the
world that can be truly described as unique. Here, take a vaporetto via
the Grand Canal traveling through the heart of the city passing the famous
Rialto Bridge and arriving in Piazza San Marco. St. Mark Square is
described as the most elegant drawing room in Europe. A guided tour of the
magnificent St. Mark’s Basilica (Mass* celebrated here) where the remains
St. Mark, the Gospel writer, are housed in the main altar. Visit the
Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace), the official residence of the Venetian
rulers, with richly decorated chambers and halls. The tour also includes
the famous Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy the rest of this wonderful city on your
own with an afternoon at leisure (perhaps try a gondola ride?). Return to
Padua for our farewell dinner at a local restaurant. *All Masses have been
requested and are subject to reconfirmation by local ecclesiastical
authorities. (B, D)
